dard-et-ribo-crozes-hermitage-blanc-2023
Dard et Ribo - Crozes Hermitage Blanc 2023

Crozes-Hermitage Blanc 2023 is a natural wine crafted by Dard et Ribo, in the Rhône region in France. This white wine is made with Marsanne and Roussanne grapes.

Dard and Ribo met studying winemaking in Beaune as teenagers and have made wine together since 1984, across 8.5 hectares of small parcels in the northern Rhône. The whites are as sought after as the reds and just as scarce, since most of what they make goes to restaurants and private customers who have been buying for decades.

The fruit comes from Les Bâties at Larnage, a site the two of them call Les Murettes, on red clay and stone with some granite running through it. It is the same soil type as Les Rocoules up in Hermitage. Both varieties were planted in 1986 and the blend runs roughly half and half, with Roussanne usually the larger share. Malolactic is taken to completion and the wine spends 12 months in oak casks of 228 and 600 litres, a quarter of them new. We believe this vintage is made with no added sulphur.

We have not yet tried this vintage, but hear it has notes of walnut, peach, white flowers, dried fruit and greengage plum, nutty and restrained with a real grip to it. If wanting to pair this with food, a good option could be roast chicken, hard cheese or a mushroom dish.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0221/6407/8692/files/Dard-et-Ribo-Crozes-Hermitages-Blanc-2023.png?v=1793345331
