This fresh, crisp and complex white wine is made with \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/jacquere\"\u003eJacquère\u003c\/a\u003e, \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/natural-wine-chardonnay\"\u003eChardonnay\u003c\/a\u003e and Mondeuse Blanche grapes.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe slope at Cevins was planted before phylloxera, then abandoned for decades. In 1997 Denis Perroux, then mayor of the village, started a project to bring the community together by bringing the hillside back, and Michel Grisard founded the estate the following year, clearing and replanting the terraces. He planted Savoie varieties specifically to blend them, cutting against the regional habit of bottling each one alone. After the 2003 drought killed a third of the vines, a group of silent partners stepped in and have carried the estate since 2004. Brice Omont has run it since 2010.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eArgile is not from Cevins but from the second site at Saint-Pierre-de-Soucy, on Jurassic schistous marl over clay and limestone. The blend is a stable 40 percent Jacquère, 40 percent Chardonnay and 20 percent Mondeuse Blanche. Whole bunches are pressed straight off, fermentation runs on indigenous yeast alone, and the wine spends nine months in vat. A small amount of sulphur goes in at bottling and nothing before that.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe have not yet tried this 2024 vintage, but the estate describes bright gold colour, white fruit with a delicate baker's yeast note, and a palate that is lively and full, crisp yet creamy, with a pronounced mineral bitterness.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe did try the 2022 and absolutely adored it. There was freshness but depth and complexity with a longer finish than expected.
