Each variety brings something the others don’t have; the Gamay contributes freshness and a lively juiciness; the Grenache brings warmth and dark fruit; the Jura varieties add a savoury, earthy edge that anchors the whole blend. No sulphites added at any stage of production here and we hear it has a light, mild natural carbonation on some bottles.

We have not yet tried this wine but hear it is very juicy, very fresh, and very hard to put down. Bright red fruit, cherry, raspberry, with a warm rounded mid-palate from the Grenache and a flicker of Jura earthiness on the finish. A light natural spritz on some bottles adds to the liveliness apparently.

About the wine producer Patrice Béguet

Patrice Béguet left a career as an IT consultant in Paris to return to Mesnay, near Arbois in the Jura, where he was born. He took the wine diploma at Beaune, and now farms around four hectares of Jura vines, Ploussard, Trousseau, Savagnin, and Chardonnay under the estate label Domaine Hughes Béguet.
