Non Tradition 4J 2016 (VERY RARE!) is a natural wine crafted by Christian Tschida, in the Burgenland region in Austria. This white wine is made with Grüner Veltliner grapes, and is aged 4 years in the barrel after harvest, and now for a further 5 in the bottle.
This Grüner Veltliner is taken from 40+ year old vines grown on limestone and quartz, and the barrel was not topped up during this time. Under 600litres produced.
We suggest to give this special, aged wine a 45-60 minute carafe to express itself fully. We adored the herbacious notes amongst flavours of poached pears, nettle, nuts, apples, caramel and mineralic bursts.
Winemaker's Note
Extended aging for 4 years in a 600 L barrel. A discovery journey to see what happens to highly mineralic grape juice, if kept in wood for an extended period of time. Not topped up during aging it turned out a one of a kind elixir: low in alcohol whilst showing incredible intensity, precision and endless layers that just keep on giving.
