A Seara by La Perdida is an interesting wine made in Galicia with Alicante Buschet, Palomino, Mencia and Godello grapes.

Please note, La Perdida wines often feature Volatile Acidity, so please be aware of this before ordering as its a trait some people like or dislike.

La Perdida produces natural wines in the heart of Galicia, north-west of Spain.

Founded in 2012 by biologist Nacho González who found his passion in wine making thanks to his grandmother. Nacho works mainly with isolated, remote and somehow forgotten vineyards - that's why his wines are also known as "island wines" and his aim is to bring them to life.

The grapes of La Perdida grow on granite and clay soil and wines are aged in "Tinajas Amphora, or very old oak barrels.

NATURAL WINES BY LA PERDIDA

La Perdida is Nacho González, a biologist who settled in Larouco, in Valdeorras in Galicia, and founded the winery in 2012. It started with O Trancado, a 70-year-old parcel inherited from his grandmother. Today he farms around 5 hectares over roughly 30 plots of isolated, half-forgotten old bush vines, hence the name 'island wines', on granite, slate-rich clay and limestone. The main grapes are Garnacha Tintorera and Palomino, with Godello, Mencía, Doña Branca and Sumoll also being planted.

Nacho ages his wines for about ten months in clay tinajas from a potter in Albacete, or in old oak, and adds no sulphur. Whites often get long skin contact. Look out for O Trancado from that original family vineyard, Proscrito, mostly Palomino with a little Garnacha Tintorera, which comes out pink, and A Chaira, built around Doña Branca.
