Chardonnay Savagnin 2020

Chardonnay Savagnin 2020 is a natural wine crafted by Sylvain Jacuot of  Caveau du Val de l'Amour in the Jura region in France. This white wine is made with Chardonnay and Savagnin grapes, vinified in his winery in Cramans, which is essentially his garage at the back of his house. Its a very small operation, and he farms just 1.5-2 hectares so these wines are not easy to come by, and not too much sold outside the region.

This wine is an absolute treasure. When making our order... we had heard directly from our pal Geordie Wine Guide that this one may be "off menu" but really one to get. We asked and were able to secure a small allocation, and so glad we did! Its a blend which has seen three years elevage, and whilst it is Ouillé officially... it for sure has oxidative notes at play!

This wine has that beautiful oxi nose, coupled with Tarte Tartin and marzipan. Notes of black sesame michi (rich paper), raisins, almonds, more toasted sesame and walnut invade the senses. What a wow wine for sure!
