We don't get to try as much Slovenian wine as we would like, and to finish our evening the other night with the team we reopened this 2009 Slovenian gem from Čotar, which we first came across in a winebar in Vienna.

This wine is made from the native grape Teran as well as Cabenet Sauvignon and Merlot, which does give it a slight Bordeaux feel but of course, this is made naturally and the blend works an absolute treat.

This is one of those wines which is light, yet complex.

Fruit-forward, yet earthy with cigar box and leather notes charming you to it's years in bottle


It's 2009 age shows gracefully and now-softened tannins beautifully seduce your palate with charm and delicacy.

It's a 12% wine which really hits the spot for colder months. Highly recommended.
