The Four Horsemen is a non alcoholic bevarage crafted by MURI Drinks, in the Copenhagen region in Denmark. This non alcoholic product, also known as a Proxy wine has 0.4% alcohol, which is the same amount of alcohol as a ripe banana.
We LOVE this Four Horsemen collab with Muri. With a prominent base of sour cherry, this Proxy really does have a juicy red wine vibe to it, and there is a strong correlation to Cabenet Franc. You can tell the juice is the main driver behind it, it's concentrated, rich and gastroniomic. We enjoyed it with a spicy pork pasta and a cheeseboard afterward and were SUPER IMPRESSED. It also holds well in the fridge once open.
Muri Drinks state that "This is our collaboration with The Four Horsemen, the legendary Brooklyn restaurant co-owned by LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy. A longtime supporter of MURI, the restaurant is known for its world-class wine list curated by the late Beverage Director, Justin Chearno.
We both wanted to create a bottle that was more 'wine-adjacent' than our typical blends as Justin wanted to match the excellent guest experience for those note drinking alcohol. The end result was balanced, complex, and deeply personal, made for pairing with the restaurant’s acclaimed food while offering non-drinkers the same sense of occasion.
We make a local Stevnsbær sour cherry wine, adding fermented ice-clarified tomato. We then blend lacto-fermented beetroot to deepen the savory complexity and a kefir infused with bay leaf and green peppercorn for herbal spice and structure."
