Qvevri Rampante 2022 is a natural wine crafted by Vino di Anna, in the Sicily region in Italy. This red wine is made with Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grapes.

The grapes for this wine are from Anna and Eric's Contrade Rampante vineyard, on the north face of Mt. Etna. Half the property is 80-100 year old bush vines of Nerello Mascalese with a sprinkling of Nerello Cappuccio, and the rest of the vineyard is covered with olive trees, fruit trees, and blackberries.

In 2022, the grapes were hand harvested in early October before they were destemmed by hand into a Georgian qvevri. After fermentation, the qvevri was sealed and the grapes  were left to macerate for four weeks, during which time malolactic fermentation was undertaken. After pressing, the wine spent two winters in a chestnut barrel on fine lees, prior to being bottled in February 2024 with no fining or filtering.

We hear this wine tastes of plum and cherry, liqorice, and anise, with floral notes and a long mineral finish.

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.
