Monastery Riesling 2022 is a natural wine crafted by Brand Bros, in the Pfalz region in Germany. This EXCEPTIONAL white wine is made with Riesling grapes, and is their most prized plot called Klosterschaffnerei. Legend has it, that the site is associated with an old tithe barn used by the monastery in the Middle Ages to collect taxes from the region.

Here the Riesling is grown on a 65 year old vineyard, on a south facing slope. There is a thick slab of limestone rock underneath, which Jonas Brand tells us heats up a lot during the day, and retains that warmth during the night so it ripens earlier, meaning its one of the first plots they harvest in order to retain freshness and lower alcohol.

Vinification involves 12 hours skin maceration after a foot stomp before being added to 50 year old big 1200l barrels, where it spends 12 months on the lees.

Expect dynamic acidity, precision and electricity alongside a citrus edge and mild Petrol hint to come...

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.

NATURAL WINES BY BRAND BROS

Brand Bros are making waves in the world of natural wine! Brothers Daniel and Jonas Brand are 5th generation winemakers hailing from Bockenheim in Germany’s Pfalz region. Not only do their wines taste amazing, but we also love that their grandma does all the artwork for the labels. Thanks to their growing international exports, Weingut Brand has become a well-recognized name, and they’re definitely part of what we call "The New German Wave" alongside other fantastic producers like BD Schmitt, Marto Wines, and Glow Glow.
If you're into easy-drinking Glou Glou wines, give their Brand Nouveau a try. For something a little different, their Holy Chapel Pinot Blanc, Pet Nats, or even their Pinot Noir (which has a distinct Jura-like vibe) are all top picks!
