Chaxiraxi Baboso Negro 2019 is a natural wine crafted by Amós Bañeres, in the volcanic Tenerife region in Spain. This 13.5% red wine is made with Baboso Negro grapes, native to the island.
Tastewise this is rich, sensual and deep with a seriously seductive nose bursting with a raw profile of wet earth, clove, black forest gateaux, tobacco, cassis, eucalyptus, white pepper, prune and a hint of raw cacao. There is a great no-sulphites energy here we really love, as well as a soft volcanic presence different to others. Chewy tannins and a lot of soul!
The vineyard is located at the south face of Teide mountain at 1280 m of altitude, and is just 1 Ha big. These vines are 20 years old and grown on volcanic clay soils, with actual volcanic mother rock involved below for the vines roots.
The wine is aged in 300l French oak barrels for one year, and without any use of added sulphites throughout
