Jakot is a complex, high-acidic orange wine made with Friulano.

Franco Terpin is a highly regarded natural winemaker from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of northeastern Italy, directly bordering Slovenia. Terpin's vineyards are located in the rugged hills surrounding the small town of San Floriano del Collio and cover approximately 12 hectares. Terpin's vineyards are planted with multiple grape varieties, including Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia Istriana, Friulano, Pinot Grigio, and Merlot.

The soils in the vineyards are primarily composed of marl and sandstone, which contribute to the unique flavor profiles of Terpin's wines. The vineyards are also influenced by the region's cool climate and proximity to the Adriatic Sea, which provides a moderating influence on the temperature and helps to maintain the acidity and freshness of the grapes.

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.

WHAT IS ORANGE WINE?

Orange wines are actually white wines, but with a different winemaking process - they’re made by fermenting the juice with the grape skins, which is mostly done with red wines, not white. This extra step adds tannins, flavor, and a unique color to the wine.
Because of the skin contact, orange wines tend to have more herbal, aromatic notes, and they can also have a bit of bitterness depending on the grape, how long the skins are left in contact with the juice, and the vessel used for maturation. Unlike most white wines, they can also feature tannins (which are formed from the skins, which white wines do not use). Orange wines are a style that brings out some really interesting flavors that many people adore for their unique properties, whether easy going or complex.
