Bicolour is a natural wine crafted by Schmelzer, in the Burgenland region in Austria. This red wine is made with a mix of red and white grapes!

We think this is a sensational value red/white blend for the price!

This is super fresh in acidity, best served chilled. Reminds us of a blackberry & apple pie, slightly tart in the best way possible. And also smokey, herbal & more complex than you may think, but still very quaffable - Delicious!

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.

Schmelzer Weingut

NATURAL WINES BY GEORG SCHMELZER

Georg Schmelzer is the fourth generation of his family making wine in Gols, on the north side of Lake Neusiedl in Burgenland. The family farms around 10 hectares of gravel, sand and chalk, surrounded by farm animals, bees and flowers, and follow Rudolf Steiner's ideas closely, with horn manure and herbal preparations in the vineyards. The focus is on local grapes like Welschriesling, Zweigelt and Sämling.

Fermentations are spontaneous, ageing is mostly in neutral oak and nothing is added. For an easy start, try Bicolour, a red-white blend of Welschriesling and Zweigelt, or the Dion pét-nat from Sämling and Welschriesling, while the 1-litre Big Nature bottles are made for sharing. At the other end sits BergWerk, a Cabernet Sauvignon foot-crushed in the vineyard and sealed in a qvevri buried there for 322 days, until the next harvest.
