Divy Rysak Rosé is a natural wine by Richard Stavek, in the Moravia region in Czech Republic.

Rysak is the name of wines in the Czech republic which use both red and white grapes. This Rosé wine could therefore be more seen as a red/white blend, as is made with Blaufränkisch, Portuguese, Welschriesling, Isabella and Grüner Veltliner grapes.

Richard Stávek is one of the early pioneers of making natural wine in the Czech Republic, and started in the early 90's in the most common region for making wine, Moravia.

He is not just a winemaker, but runs a farm with sheep of which he also makes cheese from amongst other things. He farms 4.5 Hectares of wines with vines on average around 50 years old, on sandy soils.

His wines can be experimentals, and usually featuring little known Czech Varietals too…

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.

NATURAL WINES BY RICHARD STÁVEK

Richard Stávek farms in Němčičky, a small village in southern Moravia, Czech Republic. He started making wine in the 1990s and co-founded Autentista, an early group of Czech natural growers. Of his roughly 15 hectares, nearly five are vines. The rest goes to goats for cheese, bees, apricots, cherries and vegetables. His Odmery plot of Pinot Blanc dates from 1973, and the wines rest in cellars dug into sandstone.

Whole bunches are foot-trodden and fermented in wooden vats, often with long skin contact, then aged in large old oak and acacia. Sulphur only goes in when really needed, and then in small amounts. He grows a wide spread of varieties, from Welschriesling and Grüner Veltliner to Blaufränkisch and Portugieser. Divy Rysak Rosé is a light red and white blend of Blaufränkisch, Portugieser, Welschriesling and a few other grapes, with no added sulphur.
