La Stoppa - Vino del Volta 2024 is a sweet wine from Emilia Romagna using the graope Malvasia di Candia Aromatica which will wow the table!

“Oh, but it’s a bit too sweet” are words we hear too often.

But the key is WHEN to drink them.

And if not convinced already, we guarantee on our reputation that busting out a banging sweet wine with dessert at your next dinner party will WOW THE TABLE. The trick is not to drink it like a dry wine.

This is a dessert wine made with Malvasia di Candia Aromatica to crack open when you have friends over for a sit down dinner. You whip out your amazing dessert, but serve people a sip of this just before and then again to enjoy with it, and after!

We found notes of floral elements mingling with stewed apricot, vanilla, butterscotch, mint, rose water and lychee. A showstopper for the end of your meal!

Trust us. You’re in for a good time. Get that apple pie in the oven…

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.

NATURAL WINES BY LA STOPPA

La Stoppa sits in the hills above Rivergaro, near Piacenza in Emilia-Romagna. Founded in the late 19th century by the lawyer Gian Marco Ageno, it was bought by Elena Pantaleoni's father in 1973, and Elena has run it since the 1990s. Of the 50 hectares, about 32 are vines on heavy clay at around 250 metres. In 1996 Elena and winemaker Giulio Armani, who also makes Denavolo, replanted most of the international varieties with Barbera, Bonarda and Malvasia di Candia Aromatica.

Fermentations are spontaneous, with long skin contact in steel, cement and wood. Macchiona, half Barbera and half Bonarda, spends around three years in large Slavonian oak and two more in bottle, so older vintages are easy to find. Ageno is the famous skin-contact white with about four months on the skins, Costabosco a lighter Malvasia. Trebbiolo Rosso is the everyday red.
