Valais is a picturesque wine region located in the southern part of Switzerland, nestled between the stunning Swiss Alps. Whilst many producers in the region do not use chemicals, Natural Wine producers in Valais can be somewhat hard to find, with notable exceptions being Julien Guillon and Mythopia.
In terms of grape varieties, Valais is home to an impressive array of both red and white wine grapes. The region is particularly renowned for its outstanding Pinot Noir, Gamay, and Chasselas wines.
Important wine facts about Valais include its status as the largest wine-growing region in Switzerland, with over 5,000 hectares of vineyards. The region also holds the title for producing some of the highest vineyards in Europe, with vineyards located at an altitude of 1,150 meters above sea level.
