About Fistful of Flowers 2024 by Momento Mori
According to Dane Johns, Fistful of Flowers has reached somewhat of a cult status, and he thinks the 2024 is another absolutely stunning wine, even better than the 2023. He also tells us why it is priced where it is: not because of any difference in quality or care, but because he wanted an entry level wine that people can actually afford to drink. In his words: "Wine for the people!"
Production Process of Fistful of Flowers 2024 by Momento Mori
The Moscato Giallo and Vermentino were grown by the Chalmers family on the slopes of Mt Camel in Heathcote, Victoria, with a small portion from their Merbein vineyard further north. Dane says it was a great season and the fruit came in at very high quality, which has given a very well balanced wine.
Long, steady ferments in 100% stainless steel with approximately 2 weeks on skins, then pressed and aged in stainless steel. It was racked only once before bottling.
Tasting Notes for Fistful of Flowers 2024 by Momento Mori
The entry level point to Momento Mori is really not as entry level as you think - this is an absolute banger from start to finish and actually one of our favourites! There is an expressive whack of florals on the nose, with perfumed stone fruit, musk and spring blossoms alongside BIG grapefruit.
The palate is almost the opposite: fresh and pure, with a cool, slatey steeliness, and a fine mineralic salinity holding it all together with more tropical aspects like passionfruit alongside lemon pith and even more grapefruit. All at a refreshingly low 10.5% alcohol. THIS WINE ROCKS!
