Tasting Notes for Domaine Houillon Vieilles Vignes 2023

This 2023 vintage of Vieilles Vignes had notes of an expressive, concentrated nose featuring HUGE Eucalyptus! Almost like Vix Vapour Rub in some way! This merges wonderfully with notes of plums, dark berries, black cherry, sweet and savoury spices like pepper and clove, cedar oil and savoury balsamic hits

The palate is full and powerful yet finely balanced, revealing ripe, velvety black fruit with supple sandy tannins and a deep, mouth-coating texture. Additional complexity arises from hints of cocoa, gentle herbs, iron and subtle maturation infusions, all coming together in a seamless, elegant whole.

The finish is long and juicy, driven by lingering black fruit, baked apple pie, more eucalyptus, and soft floral tones, making the wine feel both gastronomic and age-worthy. WE LOVE IT!
