Weber Pinot Gris by Kelly Fox is a natural wine made in Oregon with Pinot Gris grapes.

"

You may or may not be aware that Pinot Gris (technically a white grape despite having a pinkish hue) is rather special when macerated on the skins, giving it this lovely light rouge colour - making you think it's a light red or rosé.

Popular with natural producers in Alsace but increasingly more common elsewhere the past few years, this particular macerated Pinot Gris comes from Oregon, USA from respected producer Kelley Fox.

It takes a little time to open up, and when it does will reward you with an array of interesting notes to explore, which for some will include black tea, cranberry and hay. Very interesting wine.

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.

WHAT IS ORANGE WINE?

Orange wines are actually white wines, but with a different winemaking process - they’re made by fermenting the juice with the grape skins, which is mostly done with red wines, not white. This extra step adds tannins, flavor, and a unique color to the wine.
Because of the skin contact, orange wines tend to have more herbal, aromatic notes, and they can also have a bit of bitterness depending on the grape, how long the skins are left in contact with the juice, and the vessel used for maturation. Unlike most white wines, they can also feature tannins (which are formed from the skins, which white wines do not use). Orange wines are a style that brings out some really interesting flavors that many people adore for their unique properties, whether easy going or complex.
