Etna Rosso 2020 is a natural wine crafted by SRC, on the Mount Etna volcano in the Sicily region in Italy. This red wine is made with mostly Nerello Mascalese with a small proportion of Nerello Cappuccio, Carricante and Minnella grapes typical of the volcano and winemaking here.

The grapes come from around 70-year-old vines on volcanic soils. After manual harvest, fermentation starts spontaneously, followed by around three weeks of maceration. The wine then ages for 12 months in cement tanks and is bottled without added sulphites.

We have not yet tried this vintage but expect a somewhat rustic and punk rock approach to Etna Rosso here based on previous experiences.

SRC - Etna Wines

SRC is a family estate founded in 2013 on the northern side of Mount Etna. Its name comes from the initials of Sandra, Rori and Cinzia Parasiliti, bringing daughter, father and mother directly into the winery's identity. Some of their no-sulphur wines are known to be quite wild and punk rock, and for adventurous types just FYI

Many vines are between fifty and one hundred years old and are trained in the traditional freestanding alberello form. Nerello Mascalese is the core red variety, sometimes joined by Nerello Cappuccio and Grenache. Carricante and Grecanico form the basis of the whites.
