ONE PER ORDER

Anders Frederik Steen states this wine is "A blend of the two varieties of chardonnay and viognier. Blended directly in layers in the old wooden pressoir of Mazel. First Chardonnay, then Viognier, then Chardonnay etc. Pressed slowly for four days, with one single rebêche every day. After the pressing the juice, went directly into old barriques and stayed here until June 2025. (One year and nine months)

2023 is not the most expressive year; the aromas stay discrete and often with a very fragile elegance. Something this wine is very well defined by. No rich southern fruit, no overpowering floral notes, just a hint of both and a little beautiful saltiness, and an acidity that combines it all. Again, we believe the time and the barrels did their magical job and helped the wine to create its own solid balance."

Anders Frederik Steen is a true legend in the natural wine scene, and his winemaking philosophy is simple: “Nothing added. Nothing taken away.” He crafts his wines in the Ardèche region of France with his partner Anne Bruun Blauert, and what's unique is that none of his wines are ever made the same way twice—hence, the many different labels, each inspired by song lyrics or poetry.
Steen uses an old press with a slow, gentle technique and brings a creative, experimental approach to his wines. Expect juicy flavors, oxidative notes, complex layers, and some pretty unique grape blends depending on the bottle. Since the wines change with every vintage, you’re guaranteed never to taste the same wine twice.
