Max one per order.
Say hello to Eugenie – a relative newcomer to the Gut Oggau family! First released in 2022, this is the 2024 vintage and only the third time this wine has ever been made. As with all of their creations, this one has its own vivid personality – and a clear mission.
Eugenie is made from a field blend of PIWI (fungus-resistant) grape varieties, harvested by hand. These grapes were planted in 2018 as part of Steffi and Eduard’s vision for a future-facing, disease-resilient viticulture.
A gentle four-day skin maceration brings just the right amount of grip and a hazy golden-orange glow. Aged for 10 months in Austrian oak barrels.
On the nose, it’s fresh and herbal – think green mango, thyme, and a lift of citrus. The palate is light and zesty, with stone fruit, salty minerals, and a fine texture that carries all the way through. There’s a hint of spritz when first opened, so don’t be afraid to give it a bit of air or even a light shake if you’re feeling rebellious.
Tastewise think juicy melon and soft apple up front, with a gentle lift of meadow flowers and a hint of rose water. There’s a subtle touch of vanilla in the background and just a little tannin on the finish to keep it structured. Good to drink now – especially with food – but it’ll definitely get even better with a bit of age.
