Romain Henin Champagne
Romain Henin is a cult winemaker working without sulphites in Champagne. After working as a vat room manager at Champagne Henri Giraud for 2 years, in 2013, Romain returned to the Champagne Pascal Henin family estate to work for my parents. In 2015, faithful to his principles and in the face of his parents' disagreements on cleaner viticulture that respects everything (environment, social and human) he left the domain to start his own account. In 2016, he took over 1.20 ha of AOC champagne vines on lease from various owners. In 2017, he launched the official conversion of his own domain. In August 2018 he worked the harvest with childhood friend Jason Ligas and Patrick Bouju and Justine for their project "Sous le Végétal".
It was after this experience with winemakers not working with sulphites, Romain Henin come back from Greece and started to vinify his grapes in a natural way without inputs and without sulphites. In 2021 his first "Gamins du Terroir" bottles hit the market and he also took over the family estate.
The 7 ha estate located on Aÿ and Mareuil le port, and their close surroundings, has since been run without chemicals (conversion started in October 2021), is run in holistic practices (Demeter) . Romain also uses phytotherapy (own fermented extracts and herbal teas and our pickings) as well as agroforestry techniques (more than 100 trees per hectare planted the first year in all plots.)
