Kidev Erti Chinuri 2021 by Lapati Wines is made in Kakheti with Chinuri grapes, by Frenchmen living in Georgia and making wines in a lighter style than you may expect..

Lapati Wines was founded by the French emigrants Vincent Jullien and Guillaume Gouerou with the goal to produce natural wine and Pet Nat in an environmentally friendly way using the traditional Qvevri method.

In 2015 they have completed their Marani in the Sagarejo in Kakheti, Eastern Georgia and are currently producing around 3,500 bottles a year. The focus is on Pet Nat, which is probably due to their French roots.

About half of the chemical-free grapes come from Lapatis own vineyards in Kakheti, Kartli and Imereti. The rest comes from local winemakers who also farm sustainably. Vincent and Guillaume are buying just enough to fill their four one-tonne Qvevris fully.

The grapes are harvested by hand and crushed with feet. Lapati Wines is a successful experiment combining Georgian and French viticulture culture and technology. This goes in line with the name of their Pet Nat series ""Kidev Erti"", which means ""one more"" in Georgian and sounds mischievously in French after ""qui divertit"" (""who's having fun"")

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.

NATURAL WINES BY LAPATI WINES

Lapati Wines was set up in 2015 by two Frenchmen, Vincent Jullien and Guillaume Gouerou, in Sagarejo in Kakheti, east of Tbilisi. They met at Art Villa Garikula, a Georgian arts centre, where Vincent was experimenting with natural sparkling wine and Guillaume was there as an artist. They buy from local growers and have around 1.5 hectares of their own, mostly Rkatsiteli.

They use traditional qvevri and very little sulphur, yet the wines are light and fresh, and they are among the very few making pét-nat in Georgia. Kidev Erti, Georgian for 'one more', is their pét-nat line, from Rkatsiteli, Chinuri and Tavkveri. Of the still wines, Chaku' is a directly pressed Rkatsiteli aged in qvevri, Chakalix a Rkatsiteli with seven months on skins, and Super Ravi' a Saperavi with ten days on skins.
