Brutal White 2022 is a natural wine crafted by Christian Tschida, in the Burgenland region in Austria. This newly released (Feb 2025) white wine is made with a Gemischter Satz (aka a field blend) of various grapes.

Tasting BRUTAL WHITE 2022 by Christian Tschida

Enticing minor waft of super mild VA (which blows off) and soft flinty reduction with freshly squeezed lime juice on the nose really intrigues the senses on first smell…

The palate delivers with an energetic burst of tangy lemon sherbert, grapefruit zest and a sensual mineralic (and almost chalky!) edge that grips the tongue.

Whilst super fresh, it goes down with a vanilla cream roundness which makes it the best of both worlds. Light yet big in some ways. Would be great for a 5pm sunny Apero drink. We love it!

NATURAL WINES BY CHRISTIAN TSCHIDA

Christian Tschida is a cult-favorite natural winemaker from Austria’s Burgenland region.
A bit of a perfectionist and known for keeping a low profile, he prefers to let his wines do the talking—and they’ve earned him a devoted following worldwide. His vineyards, mostly tended with the help of a horse, are as stunning as they are full of life. Some of his standout bottles include the Himmel auf Erden range, Non-Tradition, Kapitel l, and his iconic Tschida Brutal Wine—a Pinot Noir with a wild, forest-like depth that reminds us of a great Burgundy. Whether it’s Grüner Veltliner, Chardonnay, or Blaufränkisch, his wines are something special, which is why you’ll find them in some of the best restaurants around the world.
