Mort Aux Cons 2025 is a natural wine crafted by Cave Aux Fioles, in the Roussillon region in France. Thisbig and bold, 14.5% red wine is made with Lledoner Pelut (a local Catalan clone of Grenache) and Syrah grapes.

We have not yet tried it, but expect a big presence from this Southern French red with these grapes. We hear it is both rich and powerful, with ripe red fruit, toasted notes and sweet spice. The palate is deep and savoury, with a slightly wild, animal edge and a long, polished finish shaped by the wood ageing.

It is made with the grapes macerated for 3 weeks with alternating pump-overs and punch-downs for gentle extraction. The wine is pressed manually in a vertical wooden press, completes malolactic fermentation in barrel and is then aged for 1 year in wood. Bottled without filtration or added inputs.

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.

La Cave Aux Foiles

La Cave aux Fioles is Carlos Badia's wine project in Roussillon, in the Catalan Corbières near Perpignan. Carlos came to wine production after around thirty years in the wine world, with experience spanning Sommelier duties, marketing and international trade. That long background eventually led him towards making wine himself.

By 2016 Carlos was experimenting on a small scale, and the domaine has since grown to around ten hectares, including many old vines on clay and limestone soils. Carlos works with a broad collection of Mediterranean grapes: Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris, Grenache Noir, Macabeu, Muscat, Carignan, Lledoner Pelut, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Malvoisie all appear. Since 2022 no additions of SO2 have been used in the cellar (from our knowledge)
