Traminer 2023 is a natural wine crafted by Jules & Didier Grappe, in the Jura region in France. This white wine is made with Savagnin grapes taken from his Longefin and Champs Rouge plots, but he is not allowed to call it Savagnin due to Vin de France appellation rules (and not qualifying for Cotes du Jura appellation status). See the video in the slides (not the video below) for this explanation.

Direct pressing of the grapes then aged 9 months in tank. No added sulphites, as with all their wines

Expect an easy going, gluggable Savagnin that is ideal to swig at parties and casual weeknight gatherings with friends. Unfussy and vibrant, with a cool nose that showcases notes of chalk, gooseberry, lemon pith, pineapple gummi bears, mild struck match. Salty aspects kick in on the palate and vibrant chilli hints. Quite an interesting Savagnin… almost with a Sauvignon kick.

Didier Grappe video documentary

One of our earlier documentaries we made in Jura was with Didier Grappe, where he expressed his love for Hybrid grapes and way he works in Saint Lothain, close to Poligny.

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.
