Kestrel Riesling "Late Harvest" 2023 is a natural wine crafted by Grandbois, in the Mosel region in Germany. This white wine is made with Riesling grapes.

Grandbois state that "This Riesling Spätlese (LH) was harvested in mid-October, with about 15% botrytis still present in the last harvest. The season ended cold and sunny, so the harvest took a long time. This wine then fermented slowly over about 30 days and was aged for 6 months on the full lees in neutral 1000-litre foudre barrels before being bottled in spring and released in summer 2024.

The Maringer sundial is our backyard. The kestrels hover above the vineyards in the sundial, catching the jet streams and soaring for hours. They methodically hunt the mice and the small salamanders, keeping both populations in check. They are breathtaking and enrich the experience of working in these vineyards. The Rieslings are a showcase of traditional winemaking combined with natural philosophies. ""

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.

NATURAL WINES BY GRANDBOIS WINES

Tanja and Philippe Grandbois run a small winery in Germany’s Mosel region, where they take care of 2 hectares planted with a mix of Riesling, Bacchus, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Blanc. After moving to Maring-Noviand to raise a family, they decided to settle into life on the land and make wine together.
Before diving into winemaking, Tanja was a pastry chef and worked at wineries across Germany. Philippe, on the other hand, left his corporate gig opening bars for Marriott International to gain experience at wineries in Australia, Burgundy, New Zealand, and Canada—where they eventually met.
Grandbois Wines are all about fun and freshness—perfect for sipping with friends in the park on a sunny day. Their use of new oak is a bit of a surprise in the natural wine world, but it makes their still wines, like Pinecone Pinot Blanc, super unique and approachable!
