NATURAL WINES BY LES PIEDS SUR TERRE (VALENTIN MOREL)

Les Pieds sur Terre is the winery of Valentin Morel, who took a pretty unconventional path to winemaking. After studying international law and politics, he decided to return to his family’s estate in Poligny, Jura, to make wine. Before taking over from his father, Jean-Luc Morel, in 2014, he honed his skills with legendary winemakers like Pierre Frick and Bruno Schueller in Alsace. Deeply inspired by Rudolf Steiner’s philosophy, Valentin brought a more holistic approach to the vineyard.
He now farms about 6 hectares across five plots in Poligny, working with all the classic Jura grapes—Chardonnay, Savagnin, Pinot Noir, Trousseau, and Poulsard. More recently, he’s also started experimenting with hybrid varieties that are naturally more resistant to disease and fungus, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in Jura winemaking.
