Sous Voile Roter Traminer 2023 is a natural wine crafted by Hannes Bergdoll, in the Pfalz region in Germany. This white wine is made with Roter Traminer grapes, taken from old vines and grown on limestone soils. The wine is aged for 18 months under a veil of yeast, called Sous Voille and popular with older style wines in Jura, often aged for longer.

Whilst this wine does have oxidative elements as is very cool in this way, it is of course not as oxidative as Vin Jaunes, which require 6 years and 3 moths of oxidative aging before release. It really gives a nice distinctive edge we find very compelling, whilst still preserving freshness at the same time. Super great!

Bottled in March 2024 with a tiny 10mg dose of sulphites added directly before bottling.
