Chianti Superiore 'San Firenze' DOCG 2022 is a natural wine crafted by Fattoria di Sammontana, in the Tuscany region in Italy.
This red wine is made with Sangiovese grapes from a 20 year vineyard of about two hectares lining the south side of the estate, with intentionally limited yields in order to achieve higher quality.
Tastewise, this has a dusky element. Cacao nibs bitters, stewed apples, white pepper, plums, Mediterranean herbs, tannins that could you whole mouth but acidity keeps you going for more.
Vinification: de-stemming, maceration and spontaneous fermentation of about 20 days in stainless steel and concrete. The wine is then aged in neutral barriques for 6-8 months and bottled without any filtration.
About Fattoria di Sammontana
Fattoria di Sammontan a farm working closely with nature, located in Montelupo Fiorentino, along the Arno valley, just 20 Km. from Florence. They tend about 13 hectares of vineyards and more than 3,000 olive trees, planted between 70 and 150 meters above sea level. The soil is alluvial, and as such is full of stones, gravel, and pebbles of various sizes that are technically referred to as “skeletons”. They say this soil, usually defined as “ungrateful”, is the one that gives character and personality to their wines.
