Brutal Rouge 2023 is a natural wine crafted by Antony Tortul of La Sorga, in the Languedoc region in France. This energetic red wine is made with 95% Cinsault from 67 year old vines and 5% Muscat Blanc a Petits Grains grapes from 12 year old vines with low yield. Both are grown on Schist soils in Cabrerolles (Faugères appellation area).
The grapes see 26 days of maceration after manual destemming. The wine is aged in sandstone tank for 9 months with no added sulphites at any stage, as with all La Sorga wines.
How does this Brutal wine taste?
This wine is punk rock! Small spiky volatile acidity, which is well integrated and a juicy berry element from Cinsault and mild floral touch from the muscat! Subtle chocolate elements, a mild earthy edge, forest fruits like elderberry mingling with touches of white pepper. Very cool and very drinkablel!

FACT: As a founder of the Brutal series, Antony Tortul and the other founders are the only ones allowed to use the golden Brutal label, in addition to trusted friends. This is because the Brutal labels were vastly misused by producers in the past to capitalise on the demand, without the quality.
